persons lost their lives owing to the collapse and burning of

certain mat shed booths. It was thought that in the proposed

death enquiry in this case the magistrate discharging the duties

of coroner should be assisted by a strong and independent a jury

as possible. The bill was therefore introduced and passed

through all its stages on the 28th February, 1918.

In my opinion this is an Ordinance to which His Excellency

the Governor may properly assent in the name of His Majesty and

on His behalf.
